San Francisco Design Showcase 2019

Oarcon were delighted to partner with Clara Bulfoni & Geddes Ulinskas Architects to help bring their Wabi-Sabi soak room design to the 2019 San Francisco Design Showcase.

This years location was the majestic Presidio Heights mansion “ le Petit Trianon” designed to match the famous worldwide landmark in Versailles.

Background

For the past 42 years, the San Francisco Decorator Showcase has raised over $16 million to benefit the San Francisco University High School financial aid program. This event allows hundreds of deserving Bay Area students access to a world-class college preparatory education.

The Showcase invites some of the City’s most noted Designers, Architects, Craftswomen and Craftsmen to showcase their combined skills for charity and has taken place at some of the most prestigious addresses in some of the most breathtaking neighborhoods of San Francisco.

Project Designer, Clara Bulfoni, was inspired by the wabi-sabi aesthetic, which embraces the imperfect, the impermanent and incomplete. The handmade weathered terracotta tiles on the floor and lower part of the walls, together with the soft taupe grey clay plaster, create a serene and organic room, where the earthy tones are contrasted by raw materials. All the faucetry is in vintage nickel finish, while the vanity, the tub, and ceiling skylights are clad in wood slats.

The soak room invites you to restore a sense of calm, presence and beauty, balancing simplicity and authenticity while appreciating the imperfect.
